Leadership

Leadership is about creating impact

Titles are given. Leadership is demonstrated — usually in the moments when it costs something.

I have come to believe that leadership is less about being in charge and more about being responsible for what happens to the people you are in charge of. It starts with vision: the ability to describe a future clearly enough that other people can walk towards it. It is held together by integrity, because a team can only move as fast as it trusts the person in front.

And it is proved by execution. Ideas are cheap, plans are common, and the leaders who matter are the ones who turn intention into something real — then use the opportunity that creates to open doors for someone else.

Entrepreneurship

Building ideas into businesses

An idea is only interesting once someone is willing to pay for it.

I am drawn to the gap between what exists and what could exist. Most of my working life has been spent in that gap — developing business, opening markets, building brands, learning how technology changes the way a customer decides, and discovering the difference between a good idea and a working one.

The interests below are not a corporate portfolio. They are the areas where I keep finding problems worth solving.

  • Business development
  • Innovation
  • Digital transformation
  • Branding
  • Sales
  • Travel
  • Property
  • Hospitality
  • Technology
  • Investment

The book

Monetize Your Talents

Discover. Develop. Monetize.

Most people are sitting on something valuable and calling it a hobby. Monetize Your Talents is my framework for closing the distance between what you can do and what someone will pay you to do — and for building something durable on the other side of it.

It is written for the person who suspects they are capable of more than their current job allows, and who wants a method rather than motivation.

What I do

Four ways I work

Different rooms, one idea: people are capable of more than their circumstances currently ask of them.

Lead

Building teams, standards and cultures where good people can do their best work.

Build

Turning ideas into ventures — and ventures into something that runs without me.

Write

Monetize Your Talents and essays on business, leadership and growth.

Speak

Talks and workshops for universities, conferences, teams and business forums.

What will you build with your talent?

Your talent is more than something you're good at. It could be the beginning of a business, a career, a movement — or your greatest contribution to the world.
